Bjergsted Culture Park

During IMS2027, participants will be welcomed to Bjergsted Culture Park, one of Norway’s most important cultural districts and a national powerhouse for music and the arts. Situated within easy walking distance from Stavanger city center, Bjergsted offers a unique combination of world-class performance venues, education, and vibrant public spaces.

At the core of the park is Stavanger Concert Hall, a modern and versatile venue hosting a wide range of artistic expressions, including classical music, jazz, pop, rock, opera, theater, dance, and musicals. With two adaptable concert halls, spacious foyer areas, a mezzanine with panoramic views, VIP facilities, and a large outdoor amphitheater accommodating up to 10,000 people, the concert hall provides an exceptional setting for concerts, stage productions, meetings, and conferences. Together with the newly renovated Kuppelhallen, it forms an ideal framework for both large-scale and intimate events during IMS2027.

Stavanger Symphony Orchestra performs in the Fartein Valen Hall, widely regarded as one of the finest concert halls in Europe. The orchestra’s strong international profile and close collaboration with leading conductors and artists reflect the high artistic standards that characterize Bjergsted as a whole.

Bjergsted is also home to the Faculty of Performing Arts at the University of Stavanger, with approximately 250 students in music (classical and jazz) and dance at bachelor’s, master’s, and PhD levels. Producing more than 200 concerts annually, the faculty benefits from close collaboration with the symphony orchestra, local music institutions, and professional performers, creating a dynamic environment where education and artistic practice meet.

The culture park itself is designed as an open and welcoming public space. Lush greenery, seasonal flowers, art installations, seating areas, and well-lit pedestrian pathways connect the concert hall to the surrounding city. Throughout the year, Bjergsted offers a changing landscape, vibrant in spring and summer, warm-toned in autumn, and serene in winter, always ready to provide inspiring cultural experiences for IMS2027 participants.
